  • Free Dry camping (water available) at the Southern Skies motor plex. (Rv's are welcome.) Camping is encouraged, do NOT drink and drive. Closest Hotels are in Wilkesboro.
  • Down hill motor launches for any wind direction. (Easy as it gets.)
  • FEES: Fresh Breeze owners/pilots
FREE, you are our guest! There will be a $ 40 fee for pilots with other brands. This is a not for profit event. Any vending, selling, tandem flying for a fee and similar activities require prior written agreement.
  • Motor flying all day and if it is flyable at Moore Mt. groups may go free flying if qualified and rated USHGA members.
  • Chris Bowles will do a PPG repair and maintenance clinic at the field. (Covers solo/hirth/simoini/and the new Fresh Breeze Snap 100 as well.)
  • Ltl Slugger will lead a mass motor XC over to the mountain or to a local airport.
  • Tammy Bowles will talk about wing/harness care and maintenance (More and more motor pilots are skipping this very important check.)
  • There will be an ATV shuttle to help pilots get around with their gear.
  • The event will be using FRS channel 4 interference code 10. A back up radio will be on FRS channel 9 with no code for emergencies. 2 Meter radios are also monitored
  • The Southern Skies phone will be on at the field for out landings. 828-632-6000
  • Please NO low flying over houses around the field. 400' to 500' if necessary and try to use a lower throttle setting for your crossings.
  • If there are more than 20 "ish" pilots up there will be a pattern at the field below 500' (See pattern id picture below.)
  • There will be a party at the field Saturday night with videos and a live rock and roll band.
  • There will be no set limits on how high, far, over, under, loaded, or just nuts you fly your glider. We just ask that you keep it in your skill level and not push it. As we would like to see you fly again.
  • There will be running water, a real bathroom, a shower (limited availability) and porta potties at the event for all to use. (try not to mix the two up...)
  • You must sign the Southern Skies, LLC Waiver to fly at the event if you have flown with us before you probably already have. Please print out, sign and bring with you to save time!
